How much of your life are you missing by pursuing the wrong things? So many people spend decades chasing what they think will make them happy, only to feel empty and unfulfilled. There is a deeper story unfolding in each life, if only we knew where to look. Today I want to share a path that can lead you to discover your true purpose and what really matters most.
We’ll explore how our natural desires often distract us from our ultimate values. I’ll reveal the hidden forces in our world that make it easy to miss life’s deepest meaning. Then we’ll see a simple yet profound solution from Scripture – a process of transformation that can align your wants with what you were truly created for.
By the end, my hope is that you’ll gain new eyes to see past surface level distractions, and glimpse a glimpse vision for your life far greater than any upgrade or experience. A vision where what you want matches what your Heavenly Father wants for you. Are you ready to discover what could be if you looked beyond what’s right in front of you? Then let’s dive in and explore how to get what you really want.
- People often pursue what they think they want, but later realize it’s not what they really wanted. Discovering what you really value is important for getting what you ultimately want.
- God wants things for people, not from them. Things like peace, self-control, faithfulness, kindness, goodness and joy. What people were created for connects to who created them.
- To get what you really want, discover what you value. Spend time asking deep questions to move beyond natural wants to the ultimate. Most people don’t do this and may miss opportunities.
- The world is designed to distract from what really matters through constant upgrades and experiences. This can rob people of what they really want.
- Romans 12 urges offering one’s body as a living sacrifice, surrendering behavior to God. Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by renewing the mind.
- Renwing the mind involves taking off old, natural ways of thinking and putting on new, godly ways of seeing. This leads to discerning God’s will more easily.
- God’s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will – what is ultimately best, satisfying and helps people mature. His desire may not be as different from what people really want as assumed.
What will you do with this insight into pursuing your deepest desires? Will you continue being swept along in the current of this world’s priorities, or will you take steps toward real transformation? Remember – no one in this world can help you discern life’s ultimate purpose and values. But the God who made you already knows exactly who you were created to be.
Reach out and allow Him to reveal the character and life he dreamed up just for you. Start by carving out quiet moments each day to see with his eyes – renewing your mind through Scripture, prayer and worship. Change will not happen overnight, but stick with the process of discarding lies and embracing truth. In time, you’ll find yourself living a life far greater than any fleeting experience could offer – a life where what you want perfectly aligns with what God wants for you.
Don’t settle for less when your potential lies so far beyond. The adventure of becoming who you were born to be has only just begun. Let today mark your decision to stop pursuing shadows and start walking in your true light and purpose. The rewards that await are more than worth leaving behind the kingdom of this passing world. Now go – your destiny calls you to become all you were created to be.
