Released from the Wrong Mindset

Preached by

How we think shapes everything about our lives. Our fundamental orientation to the world determines whether we live in peace or perpetual struggle. Redirecting our minds from fleshly desires to the Holy Spirit can change everything. We’ll see that changing what we pay attention to is the first step in changing how we think, and focusing our minds on Jesus is the key that unlocks transformation.

If you’re ready to reshape your outlook and begin living a life set on higher purposes, this message is for you.

  1. Orientation, how we think about the world, changes everything about our lives. It determines how we perceive the world and what we experience.
  2. We have the power to redirect and change our mindset from focusing on the flesh to focusing on the spirit. This begins with paying attention to what we give our attention to.
  3. Our attention defines how we think. What we focus on and give attention to shapes our orientation and mindset.
  4. A mindset focused on the flesh leads to death, while a mindset focused on the spirit leads to life and peace.
  5. A mindset focused on the flesh is hostile to God and does not submit to God’s will. A mindset focused on the spirit submits to God and pleases Him.
  6. We begin to change our mindset by setting our minds on the spirit, which means giving our careful attention to spiritual things.
  7. The gospel of Jesus Christ – seeing His cross – is the foundation for our minds being set on the spirit. Looking to Jesus first reshapes how we think.

Changing the way we think begins by focusing our attention in new places. Fill your mind with Scripture, meditate on Jesus’ sacrifice for you, and pray for wisdom from above. As the Holy Spirit reshapes your outlook, you’ll begin to see life’s challenges through new eyes – not as threats but as opportunities to grow.

Let go of anxiety and self-fixation, and embrace peace and purpose that only come from God. This journey of mind renewal begins with a simple step – placing your trust fully in Jesus. Surrender to Him today, and ask the Spirit to set your mind on higher things.

As you give the Lord control of your thoughts, you’ll find your life truly transformed from the inside out, and you’ll begin walking in the peace and life that only come from having your mind set on spiritual things.
