There is one claim that divides humanity like no other: the claim that Jesus is the only way to God. These words of Jesus have fascinated, frustrated, and transformed generations. But what if they were actually true? What would that mean for how we live our lives and relate to others? Jesus’ identity and powerful yet controversial claim — that through faith in Him alone, we can find forgiveness and eternal life.
- Jesus is the risen Lord. His resurrection from the dead proves that He is who He claimed to be – God himself. His resurrection also proves that there is salvation in no one else but Jesus.
- Jesus is the only mediator between God and man. As the perfect God-man, Jesus bridges the gap caused by our sin and rebellion and unites us with God the Father.
- Jesus is the only way to God. He said “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” There is salvation in no other name. Faith in Jesus is the only way we can be forgiven of sin and reconciled with God.
- Yet we often resist this claim that Jesus is the only way. We fear it may lead to marginalizing others. It seems too narrow-minded. We know good people who believe other things. We want to be lord of our own lives. And we misunderstand that salvation comes not from our efforts but from Jesus coming to find us.
- We are called to humbly receive this gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot save ourselves – we must trust in what Jesus has done for us on the cross.
The truth is, we all long for purpose, hope, and peace that nothing in this world can ultimately give. But Jesus offers something more – the opportunity to know the very Creator of life through a personal relationship with Him. Will you receive this gift today? Will you set aside your objections, lay down your pride, and admit your need for a Savior?
The invitation of God through Jesus is for all – but the choice is yours. My prayer is that you choose life, hope and forgiveness through placing your faith in the one who is the way, the truth and the life – Jesus Christ. His claim may be exclusive, but His love is for all. Will you receive it today?
