Jesus is Better

Preached by

The battle is raging between two kingdoms – the kingdom of God and the kingdom of the world. The love of one pushes out the love of the other. This sermon sounds a clarion call to feed the love of the father through Christ by resisting the strategic temptations of the world that Satan uses to lure believers away. If we cling to Scripture and prayer, drawing close to the very heart of God, we can withstand the enticing desires of the flesh, eyes, and pride that the evil one dangles before us. But we must choose: will we settle for the cheap substitutes of this world or embrace the fullness of life found only in the love of our heavenly Father?

  • The world system is controlled by Satan and uses three temptations: the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life.
  • These temptations lure us away from God’s love and push the father’s love out of our hearts.
  • Jesus faced and resisted the same temptations by quoting scripture, which revealed the Father’s heart.
  • Studying scripture and prayer help believers feed the love of the father and resist the love of the world.

The battle between the love of God and the love of the world comes down to a choice – will we feed the love of the father through his word and prayer or give in to the temptations of the world? May we choose wisely and find God’s love pushing out the love of the world in our lives.
