Bible

Preached by

The Bible has stood the test of time, preserving God’s story of love, redemption and hope within its ancient pages for thousands of years. Yet in an ever-changing world, questions remain. Can we trust that it is truly the Word of God? Does it still speak meaningfully today?

As we explore these questions, we will discover the Bible’s fascinating origin, as eyewitnesses penned supernatural events that fulfilled prophecies. We will see how reading Scripture with faith transforms lives, and how God still speaks powerfully through its timeless truths. If we open our hearts, the Bible has the power to interrogate our lives and lead us to the living Word, Jesus Christ.

  1. The Bible is a reliable collection of historical documents. It was written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses.
  2. The Bible reports supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies.
  3. The writers of the Bible claimed that their writings were divinely inspired, not just of human origin.
  4. We should read the Bible to know God, not just for information or arguments. We need to read it with faith and the help of the Holy Spirit.
  5. The Bible is meant to read and change us, not the other way around. We should let God’s Word interrogate our lives.
  6. Ultimately, the written Word points us to Jesus Christ, the eternal Word of God, who alone can save us.

The Bible’s ultimate purpose is to point beyond its pages to reveal the greatest Story – of God’s love for humanity displayed on the cross. As we seek to know Jesus through Scripture, let us resolve to read it daily with prayer and obedience.

Let the Bible’s promises renew our hope, its wisdom guide our steps, and its timeless truths shape our lives and communities for good. And when we fail, let its grace and forgiveness lead us back to the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who alone can transform our hearts and make all things new.

The written Word points us to the eternal Word. May we come to Jesus with repentant and receptive hearts, and discover that he still speaks and moves through his Word today to change lives, breaking into our world with grace, truth and power undiminished.
