Begin With the End In Mind

Preached by

There will come a day when all humans will face a final review of their life before God. Knowing about this end should shape how we live today, especially regarding opportunities God gives us.

  • Jesus tells a parable about servants given money to invest by a nobleman who leaves on a journey. The servants represent believers and the nobleman represents Jesus who ascended to heaven.
  • We are servants of Jesus and our task of investing wisely while he is gone matters. Though what we have was given to us by God, we can earn rewards that last forever based on how we manage his resources.
  • There will be differences in heaven. Some will rule over more cities as a reward based on how they invested, though God loves us all equally. We currently struggle with differences but heaven will bring joy in others’ successes.
  • Missed opportunities matter. Though God is generous, wasting opportunities is judged as “wicked”. Having an incorrect view of God can cause us to waste opportunities.
  • We will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ for rewards, not punishment. Our opportunities now will determine our “medals” in heaven.

Begin with the end in mind. Manage opportunities God gives you wisely so they will matter for eternity.
