Am I Normal?

Preached by

Our normal habits seem to work against us more often than not. They breed worry, distraction, comparison, and complaint rather than peace, wisdom, celebration, and gratitude. Today we will explore how forming new daily habits centered on biblical truths can reorder our lives for good. We will discuss four normal habits most of us struggle with and how adopting their counterpoint biblical habits can transform our perspectives and joy.

  • Praying continually instead of worrying is a habit we should form. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
  • Spending some of our scrolling time learning from God’s Word will lead to wisdom and understanding. Proverbs 2:6
  • Instead of comparing ourselves to others, we should celebrate one another and spur each other on. Hebrews 10:24-25
  • Appreciating our circumstances instead of complaining will lead us to the center of God’s will. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

The habits we form today shape our tomorrow. Let us each reflect on how we might replace unhealthy routines with ones that build up our spirit and the spirits of those around us. Let us commit to praying more, learning more, celebrating more, and complaining less. Let each day be an opportunity to turn from worry to wonder, from aggravation to appreciation, as we walk more closely with God by his Spirit.
